The Philadelphia Passion had open tryouts today. Over 70 women came out to give it their all. The women were put through numerous drills to test their athletic abilities and to follow directions. The tryout lasted about 2 1/2 hours with drills run back to back. If they weren’t able to keep up, or couldn’t following instructions, you were asked to leave. The girls that made it to the end, will be asked to come back from a mini camp that will asked a few more days, which brings them one stop closer to being a part of the Philadelphia Passion team. #2 Kimberley Wheat, #3 Shelley Lashley, #4 Lauren La Bella, #6 Kim Storm, #7 Heather Perez, #14 Cheryl Fairweather, #18 Donna Ferry, and #19 Dana Dizillo were in attedance to show the ladies a bit of what it takes to make an LFL team along with some helpful tips to better their chances.

One of Camelbacks annual events, Contests try and skim across the pond without crashing…sounds simple enough. Most people that attempt this try and add some flare; costumes, tricks, doubles, backwards, …etc. Pretty much anything goes that will get the crowd excited. This year is was a comfortable 70f and sunny along with the annual parking lot party. Along with some photos, i recorded some of the good crashes… enjoy!

“The Jersey Shore Roller Girls roller derby league consists of three intra-league teams — the Murder Beach Militia, the Right Coast Rollers and the Anchor Assassins — and two all-star travel teams. Its members — women of all ages and backgrounds — fill the Jackson Skating Center for grueling practices several times weekly, training and scrimmaging with their coaching and referee staff to prepare for their home bouts in Asbury Park Convention Hall.” – JSRG. Los Angeles has a chance to earn a playoff berth and book their ticket to Miami for the playoffs with a win. The Temptation not only needs to win, they need a winning margin of at least 33 points over the Seduction. If they can do that, they will beat the Seattle Mist in the tiebreaker.

Cycle World kicks off the year with the 29th annual NY international Motorcycle Show. If your located any near the NY area and a motorcycle fan, this is something worth checking out. Besides all the 2009-2010 line up for all the major/custom manufactures, there are a slew of events to keep you busy all day at the show. Guest speakers (2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden to custom builder Dave Perewitz), Stunt shows from Ducati, Bikes & Beats (Live Music, Tuner Girl Search, Custom Bikes), & workshops to name a few of what they had planned all weekend.
