Formula Drift – The Gauntlet | June 4-5

“Formula DRIFT Returns to Wall Speedway
First opening in 1950 as Wall Stadium, Wall Speedway as it’s now known will host Round 3: The Gauntlet on June 4-5, 2010.
The track lives up to its moniker as the “Gauntlet” with a 16 degree banked oval along the straightaway and 30 degrees on the turns. The drivers will be challenged on this course and this track is the first on the schedule where drivers utilize the entire oval. This course is very tricky and many drivers have fallen victim to the degree of difficulty that the bank, straightaway, and inside turn creates. Each seat in the house has a great view of the action within the “bowl” and fans will not be disappointed.
The final East Coast round at Wall Speedway will be one of the most exciting events of the season. The 2-day event weekend will be filled with the best drifting action in the nation with the top drivers putting it all on the line on the very tricky course. Wall Speedway is a very fan-friendly venue and fans will be treated to a great view of all the action.

Carlisle Performance & Style ’10

Despite the passing showers in the morning, the below average temperatures, and high winds Carlisle still pushed an impressive 1800 cars. The key to this years P&S was to keep warm and one way to do this, stay busy! Autox, drifting, open dyno, drag & bass, along wit the 1500+ cars kept you quite busy to say the least. If you wanted to escape the wind, you have plenty of action going on inside the buildings. Playboy Model Jesse Lyne for autographs & pictures, RIX Magazine Model Search, Street Glow Neon Contest, and many tricked out high end cars for your viewing pleasure. Iif you wanted to see Freestyle Motocross you will have to wait til next year as they were forced to cancel due to mother natures wrath (ie highwinds!).

Later in the evening, were were greeted by heavy cloud cover and yes, still the high winds!(it never did let up), but this did not stop the action. The Grandstands were overflowing for the burnout competition, 99.3 KISS FM Rap Battle, Loudest Exhaust & Loudest Audio Competition, followed by lowest car & lowest truck limbo. There was a short break for Round 3 “Mystery” Club Olympics challenge, where the contestants were surprised by singing a song(picked at random) Karaoke style. 
The team dressed at Ninja Turtles come away with the trophy, lucky for them each team was apparently tone deaf, so Round 3 was a draw in my books. Moments before the start of this years Bikini contest, we were handed a rain shower, which sent off many of the spectator to the warmth of their cars. While we still had four brave girls in the bikini contest, this had to be the quickest contest i have experienced, but was needed! Just for them getting up on stage, they all should of won something!

The Philadelphia Passion had open tryouts today. Over 70 women came out to give it their all. The women were put through numerous drills to test their athletic abilities and to follow directions. The tryout lasted about 2 1/2 hours with drills run back to back. If they weren’t able to keep up, or couldn’t following instructions, you were asked to leave. The girls that made it to the end, will be asked to come back from a mini camp that will asked a few more days, which brings them one stop closer to being a part of the Philadelphia Passion team. #2 Kimberley Wheat, #3 Shelley Lashley, #4 Lauren La Bella, #6 Kim Storm, #7 Heather Perez, #14 Cheryl Fairweather, #18 Donna Ferry, and #19 Dana Dizillo were in attedance to show the ladies a bit of what it takes to make an LFL team along with some helpful tips to better their chances.

Red Bull Air Race – New York Tickets

NEW YORK – April 30, 2010 – The metro area better fasten their seat belts because tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Red Bull Air Race New York being held in Liberty State Park in Jersey City this summer. In partnership with NYC & Company, Jersey City, NJ and Liberty State Park, the race will take place over the Hudson River on June 19 and 20.
With some luck, the sun will be shining as thousands of spectators look just feet above the river to see something other than tall buildings. In the Red Bull Air Race, fifteen of the world’s best pilots race individually against the clock for the fastest time through an aerial race track made up of inflatable air gates. This year marks the sixth year of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship which will also land in countries including Canada, Germany, Hungary and Portugal.
Tickets are available in different levels on www.redbullairrace.com. For General Admission tickets, standing room tickets start at $30 and Grandstand Reserved Seating start at $50. The Race Club provides hospitality, premium viewing, jumbotron screens, selection of food and beverages in a buffet form and a “party” atmosphere. Price for a 2-day pass will be $540.
Corporate groups can book a private lounge within the Business Race Club: requests will personally be managed by the Red Bull Air Race Hospitality Team under hospitality@redbullairrace.com. The High Flyers Lounge is the most premium level of hospitality at the Red Bull Air Race and includes the best views of the track and gourmet food and beverage. A service fee and the Liberty State Park fee will be applied to each ticket level. Questions and requests can be directed to ticketing@redbullairrace.com.
So gather the family and tell your friends about your plans to attend Red Bull Air Race New York at Liberty State Park in Jersey City this summer. Unfortunately, the race will not be viewable from lower Manhattan. The Red Bull Air Race encourages everyone to buy tickets and plan transportation via ferries from Battery Park or the Light Rail in New Jersey. There will not be general admission spectator parking in Liberty State Park.

Over the past five years, the Red Bull Air Race has held races in major metropolitans such as London, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, and in the U.S. in San Diego, Detroit, San Francisco, and Monument Valley, Utah. Of the fifteen race pilots from around the world, two are Americans, Kirby Chambliss from Arizona and Michael Goulian from Massachusetts. Each pilot operates a year-round race team including a technician and team coordinator. The end goal for each race team is to accumulate as many points throughout the season in a quest to achieve the prestigious honor of 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Champion.
